The Big giants World media networking , Facebook Inc., rumored to have raised the target price range of shares of initial public offering (IPO) to U.S. $ 34 to U.S. $ 38 per share, equivalent to Rp306-342 per thousand shares (Rp9.000 per U.S. dollar exchange rate). The move comes after membeludaknya demand for the shares of the company's Mark Zuckerberg.

Originally, the company built a Harvard University dormitory is targeting an IPO share price range in the level of U.S. $ 28-34 per share.

By using the middle price of U.S. $ 36 per share, up is predicted to obtain fresh funds up to U.S. $ 12.1 billion, equivalent to Rp108, 9 trillion.

This vast stock up demand has also made the company's stock closed its first order on Tuesday. Schedule is two days faster than the original plan.

This change makes this social networking company will set the price of its shares on Thursday local time, and began traded the next day (Friday, May 18, 2012).

The 1st China National High School English Debating Championships 2011 was held from 23rd to 29th July at the prestigious, century-old Jinling High School in the ancient city of Nanjing, China. A total of 32 high school teams from 6 Chinese cities, Nanjing, Chengdu, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Macau and Hong Kong competed in 8 World Schools Style Preliminary Rounds from 25th to 27th July. 12 teams advanced to the Pre-Quarter Finals on 28th July.

In the Grand Final, Team Pointless from Hangzhou Foreign Languages School from Hangzhou City, comprising Kevin Wang, Li Shu and Eunice Yu, defeated Team Ying Wa College from Hong Kong on a 5 to 2 majority vote. The Best Speaker of the Grand Final was Kevin Wang of Hangzhou Foreign Languages School. The debate motion for the Grand Final was “This House believes Western Governments should assassinate dictatorial leaders who use violence against their own people to stay in power.”

The Best Speaker of the Tournament was Ms Fernanda Lai of Diocesan Girls’ School from Hong Kong.

Given the news that has already come out about Facebook, you’re probably thinking there is no way that anything else leaks out today. They’re probably on lockdown (real lockdown, not the crazed coding “lockdown”), right? Wrong.

We’ve learned about the existence of yet another secret project within Facebook. And while it’s not quite as sexy as the new Photos app, the ramifications of it are much larger. Say hello to Project Spartan.

As we understand it, Project Spartan is the codename for a new platform Facebook is on verge of launching. It’s entirely HTML5-based and the aim is to reach some 100 million users in a key place: mobile. More specifically, the initial target is both surprising and awesome: mobile Safari.

Yes, Facebook is about to launch a mobile platform aimed squarely at working on the iPhone (and iPad). But it won’t be distributed through the App Store as a native application, it will be entirely HTML5-based and work in Safari. Why? Because it’s the one area of the device that Facebook will be able to control (or mostly control).

Facebook will never admit this, but those familiar with the project believe the intention is very clear: to use Apple’s own devices against them to break the stranglehold they have on mobile app distribution. The motherblogger with both neutral and fanatic sides, as Omes Tennis describes herself, started feeling guilty of spreading the news about someone's private life and later she deleted the sneak photos. However, they had already found their place on numerous websites and the damage was already done, if it is damage at all, the photos are not compromising or anything. I am not posting the photos here only because Omes Tennis decided to delete them and I haven't asked for her permission. However, we all know what happened.

Facebook began bringing video calling to the masses Wednesday, partnering with Skype to provide the free chat service to its 750 million members.
Video calling comes to the world's largest social network as part of a larger overhaul of Facebook's chat features. The updated service will allow users to create group text chats by adding multiple friends into the same window. The chat window also becomes more prominent, taking up the right side of the screen by default.
Speaking at the company's Palo Alto headquarters, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the updates marked a shift for the company away from simply adding users at an ever-faster clip.
"The driving narrative for the next five years or so is not going to be about wiring up the world, because a lot of the interesting stuff has actually been done," he said. "It's about what kind of cool stuff you're going to be able to build, and what kind of new social apps you're going to be able to build, now that you have this wiring in place."
Zuckerberg said the shift was prompted in part by a surging demand for sharing information. Facebook users share twice as much today as they did a year ago, as measured by photos posted, comments written and other items.
Facebook's announcements come on the heels of Google rolling out a new social offering, Google+, that duplicates many of the sharing functions found in Facebook. Google+ also includes a feature called Hangouts that enables group video chatting.
For starters, the Facebook-Skype partnership will only allow one-on-one chatting. Group video chat could be forthcoming, executives said, although on Skype's stand-alone product, that feature costs money to use.
Zuckerberg said Google's new product validated Facebook's own works, and that in the future social features would become an expected part of every application.
The question is which Internet company will prove better at retaining users. Google has more unique users, but they spend less time on the site than Facebook users do. The more time users spend on a site, the more valuable it is to advertisers.
Susan Etlinger, an analyst at Altimeter Group, said Facebook's large user base would make its video-calling feature instantly competitive with Google's and other video chat services.
She said the company's plans to build new services on top of their platform signaled a newfound maturity for the 7-year-old company.
"What I heard Mark say today is that Facebook is starting to focus more on the social aspect of social networking, whereas in the past they focused more on the networking and engineering," she said. "It's a really healthy shift."
Executives at Skype, which was acquired by Microsoft in May for $8.5 billion, said the acquisition would introduce them to an enormous new audience and sell add-on services to them.
"We think this makes a lot of business sense as well," Skype CEO Tony Bates said. "We get huge reach. In the future we're talking about potentially also having Skype paid products available within the Web format that we saw here today, so we're very excited about it."
Every month, Skype's users spend 300 million minutes making video calls, Bates said. At peak times, video represents more than half the company's traffic. (Skype has 170 million regular users.)
Video chat should be available to everyone within a week, Skype product manager Mike Barnes said. Making calls requires users to download a small Java application through the browser.
At first, users will not be able to link their Facebook and Skype accounts. But that integration is in the works, Barnes said. Users who have microphones but not webcams will be able to make voice-only calls on Facebook, he said  read more

Apparently, Facebook is gearing up to show off something “awesome” next week. At least, that’s what CEO Mark Zuckerberg told reporters while he was visting the Seattle Facebook offices yesterday. Reuters reports that whatever it is, it has been developed by the 40-person team based in Seattle. And they think it might be in the mobile or tablet space.

All we know for sure is that it won’t be Project Spartan, the HTML5-based app platform that Facebook has been working on with a small group of outside developers in secret for months. Spartan will not be ready to go before the middle of July at the earliest, we’re told — nor is it based in Seattle.

What is based in Seattle are teams with deep ties to mobile. Earlier this year, the team up there put a lot of work into merging the m.facebook.com and touch.facebook.com sites together. Given that part of what we’ve seen in the leaked Facebook mobile photos appclosely resembles a part of the new photo experience on m.facebook.com, it’s possible Facebook will unveil their new mobile photos offering from Seattle. All we’ve heard recently is that the pictures we leaked were somewhat old (but very real). We also believe that there will not be a stand-alone app when it’s released, but rather, it will be a part of the current Facebook app experience.

We also know that the Facebook team in Seattle has been trying to build up a desktop software team. But the hiring is ongoing for that, so don’t expect any news out of that department for quite some time.

The wildcard is the iPad app. We know it’s coming soon, and have spoken with multiple people who have seen it now. It’s not clear if the Seattle team built it or not, but it’s certainly possible.

Facebook platform, has been investing for the last several years
through a fund called Embarcadero Ventures. Not all of his
investments through that fund have been disclosed, but they include
Playdom, Peixe Urbano, Pure Storage, Yammer and others.
The new fund will have an initial size of $200 – $400 million, with
the ability to make large secondary investments as well. But what
Palihapitiya is really focused on isn’t the fund size; rather, he
talks about the extraordinary nature of the investors. “These are
fifteen of the most important technology and business leaders in
the world,” he says.
The fund will specifically leverage the Facebook Platform in many
of its investments, says Palihapitiya. One example he gives is
about how traditional risk models around lending aren’t efficient.
“We can rewrite these models to leverage social data,” he says, to
