My friend, he wasn't jailed for carrying a gun.
He was jailed for carrying an unlicensed, unholstered and loaded gun into a public place -- stuffed down his pants with the safety off.
It discharged, fortunately into his leg as opposed to killing an innocent bystander.
As I pointed out in an earlier post, if you drive a car down a sidewalk in a crowded city you don't have to actually hit someone to be charged with multiple serious crimes, including putting people's lives in jeopardy.
Worst of all, he was offered a plea deal that would not even have kept him off the football field, let alone sent him to prison. He turned it down and took his chances in court.
The man sent himself to jail.
This IS still America -- where law-abiding citizens have a right not to be accidently shot in a restaurant or club by an arrogant jerk that thinks he's above the law.
