Online video has become popular now that most of the Internet is used by people who have broadband connections. When you watch a video online, allowing it to buffer lets you watch the movie without encountering stops and starts. The longer the video clip is, the longer it will take to buffer.
- Difficulty:
- Moderately Easy
Instructions
-
- 1
Close all instant messenging programs, such as AIM, MSN Messenger and Trillian.
- 2
Open only one video at a time. If you have a series of tabs open with videos trying to buffer, you are splitting your connection between multiple videos.
- 3
Stop all other downloads. If you are downloading music files, email attachments or any other file while buffering a video, it will slow down the buffering.
- 4
Close out any bittorrent programs you have opened; if you are downloading videos using these programs, you will encounter slow-downs when buffering videos on websites.
- 5
Close out any toolbars you have open, such as Yahoo!, AVG and Ask. These toolbars can cause buffering to be slower than normal.
- 6
Watch your video in parts if you have the option to do so; a solid one-hour video will take much longer to buffer than a video divided into parts.
