Some states have completed ballot to determine the U.S. president. From the preliminary results, Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney ahead in the states of Kentucky and Indiana. Romney excellence in these two states had been predicted earlier, because these two regions is the base of the Republican party.

As quoted from the website politico.com on Wednesday (11/07/2012), until 6:30 pm, at Kentucky, Romney gained popular vote 9159, or about 68.8 percent of the total available, while Obama only received 29.8 percent of the vote or about 4101 popular vote. In Indiana, Romney's lead is final. In this state Romney gets about 65.8 percent of the vote, or about 25,896 popular vote, while Obama only received 32.9 percent or about 12,932 votes.

Currently popular vote total collected by Romney for a while is 35,563 while for the new Obama gather 17,061. Electoral vote which will be contributed by both the state totaled 19. Required 270 electoral vote from across the state to win the presidential election in the U.S..

U.S. election officially begins on Tuesday (6/11). Two small village in the state of New Hampshire became the first region that provides voting rights. Residents in these villages go to the polls on Tuesday, November 6 morning local time.

By 1865 the practice of decorating soldiers' graves had become widespread in the North. The first known observance was in Boalsburg, Pa on October, 1864, and each year thereafter. The friendship between General John Murray, a distinguished citizen of Waterloo, and General John A. Logan, who helped bring attention to the event nationwide, was likely a factor in the holiday's growth. On May 5, 1868, in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the Grand Army of the Republic – the organization for Northern Civil War veterans – Logan issued a proclamation that "Decoration Day" should be observed nationwide.^[4] It was observed for the first time on May 30 of the same year; the date was chosen because it was not the anniversary of a battle.
There were events in 183 cemeteries in 27 states in 1868, and 336 in 1869. The northern states quickly adopted the holiday; Michigan made "Decoration Day" an official state holiday in 1871 and by 1890 every northern state followed suit. The ceremonies were sponsored by the Women's Relief Corps, which had 100,000 members. By 1870, the remains of nearly 300,000 Union dead had been buried in 73 national cemeteries, located mostly in the South, near the battlefields.read more
